Auction Information

Auction Atrium has been holding regular sales of Contemporary Ceramics organised by Marijke Varrall-Jones, since June 2009. With a programme of three  to four sales  scheduled per year, each auction offers a varied and wide ranging representation of the very best international artists from the Studio Pottery movement. With an extensive and international buying audience the sales have achieved enormous success.

Works regularly offered for sale range from the early 20th century pioneer potters such as Bernard Leach, Shoji Hamada, William Staite Murray, Charles Vyse and Michael Cardew through to their many followers including David Leach, William Marshall, Richard Batterham and Jim Malone. The modernist potters Lucie Rie and Hans Coper are well represented and continue to do very well at auction. Equally, interest in post-war artists including Gordon Baldwin, Ewen Henderson, Ian Godfrey and Joanna Constantinidis remains strong. Whilst the market for contemporary artists such as Gabriele Koch, Rupert Spira, Kate Malone and Edmund de Waal is thriving.
