Next month will see more than 280 pieces of Chinese art from export porcelain makers auctioned by Sotheby's in New York.
The pristine pieces come from the private collection of long-time dealer Elinor Gordon, who has been one of the most important traders in the field since the 1950s.
Over the years, Ms Gordon and her husband Horace acquired a vast collection of items made Chinese porcelain makers for European and American markets, the contents of which were detailed in her 1977 book Collecting Chinese Export Porcelain.
Christina Prescott-Walker, head of European ceramics and Chinese export Porcelain at Sotheby's, commented: "We are delighted to be offering the private collection of Elinor Gordon, who was truly a pioneer of the field.
"Representing a broad range of interests and prices, this collection offers something for every collector at every level."
Ms Gordon died earlier this year from a stroke, aged 91. She remained an avid collector and dealer throughout her life, acquiring high-quality pieces for buyers and museums.
