Christie's hosted the Centuries of Style Sale on June 10th in the capital.
A total of 323 lots were up for grabs and the auction house sold 83 per cent of them.
One of the highlights was a pair of George IV silver-gilt ewers created in 1824 by Edward Farrell of London. The decorative pitchers fetched £307,000.
Rodney Woolley, head of European ceramics, glass and Chinese export art, said: "The success of the Centuries of Style format was again demonstrated by the excellent results of this sale, with truly international bidding: the saleroom was well attended with a buoyant atmosphere and there was vigorous activity on the telephones."
International pieces from the likes of Charles Nicholas Odiot were also sold.
A massive pair of French silver 13-light candelabras from around 1878 was bought for £217,000.
Odiot was a French silversmith who lived in the 19th century. He became known for his rococo style and created pieces for the family of the Duke of Orleans members of the royal family.
