Online auction sets new pricing regulations
Online auction site eBay is to make changes to its pricing structure that will impact upon most of its users, it has been revealed. The website is to make a number of alterations, including an option allowing sellers to list up to 100 items for free provided bidding starts at below $1 for each piece.
Furthermore, a flat-rate fee of nine per cent is to be introduced for all successful transactions, with a ceiling of $50 placed on each item.
Joseph Cortese, founder of the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance, an industry trade group, said that the move had been widely welcomed by the public.
He said: "A lot of merchants on a lot of different levels are already calculating their savings and are liking the changes. I would say eBay struck an overall positive note."
EBay has suggested the scheme will allow its sellers to make extra money from their sales.
