Dean wore the gold-filled pocket watch, which has his initials on the cover, in 1955 during the filming of the Hollywood classic, in which he played Cal Trask who was the black sheep of his family in the run-up to the first world war.
It is being sold in London at the Fame Bureau, which specialises in music and film memorabilia, tomorrow (May 27th) and is expected to fetch up to £35,000.
The actor bought the watch in 1951 before he became famous, reports the Telegraph.
James Wilkinson from the auction house told the news provider: "Because he died so young there are not many of his possessions about so this is rare and desirable.
"Being as it was, so close and dear to Dean, this watch is as much an American cinematic and cultural treasure as one can find the ultimate collectable of the 1950s."
Dean, who died in a car crash in 1955 aged 24, won one of his two posthumous Oscars for his portrayal of Trask. He gave the item to his actress friend Tillie Starriet just before his death.
