A photo of Madonna performing in Los Angeles could fetch up to $2.1 million at auction, it has been revealed.
The picture, which shows an American flag-clad Madonna in front of a packed LA audience two days after the attack on the World Trade Centre in 2001, was taken by reputed photographer Andreas Gursky, according to Art Info.
It was given to the iconic singer by the photographer and has a personalised inscription on the back.
The piece, entitled Madonna I, stands at nine foot and is a highly detailed aerial shot of the concert.
Sotheby's will place the item up for sale on February 10th as part of its contemporary art sale.
While the painting was given to Madonna, who is herself an avid art collector, it is understood that it is not her putting it up for sale.
The sale's catalogue reveals that she parted with the piece in 2005, with rumours circulating that the seller could well be her ex-husband Guy Ritchie.
