Former Isle of Man prison to be sold
A former prison on the Isle of Man is to be taken apart and sold at auction, it has been revealed. The sale, which will include a variety of objects and artefacts from the Victorian venue, has been set up in order to avoid destroying everything on site, according to the BBC.
While there are no antiques left in the old prison, there are a number of items that will appeal to souvenir hunters.
The most anticipated lots are the two notorious old cell doors to rooms four and five, both known as the condemned man's cell.
Home affairs minister Adrian Earnshaw MHK told the news provider: "There may be some interest in a few quirky artefacts such as the cell doors and several [items] from the old isolation cells.
"Souvenir hunters might also want to bid for the various internal wall signs."
The sale will take place at Chrystals Auctions on March 12th.
